The 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami killed 226,000 people - and touched billions
more through iconic imagery. But from the tragedy came stories of

Top humanitarian stories we're looking at today include:
CLIMATE CHANGE: On the penultimate day of
the Copenhagen climate negotiations prospects for a strong deal are growing more remote, with
developed and developing nations deadlocked on sharing cuts in greenhouse gases.
Separately, Bekele Geleta, the secretary general of the International Federation
of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), told AlertNet during an
interview at the talks that communities that need to adapt to climate change can
come up with appropriate adaptation ideas and do the work themselves - if they
have adequate funding and freedom to use it. IFRC's Bekele Geleta
urged governments and humanitarian agencies to ease restrictions on how
money is used to adapt to climate change if they want to see fast, flexible
action.
