Hello, I am a MCP (thesis) student at the Univeristy of Manitoba in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. I am looking for a summer planning job either full time or part time for the period of May-Sept 1994. I have two months experience working in a planning office which was obtained during a city planning internship. My first experience was obtained through the Provincial Department of Rural Development in Winnipeg Manitoba. As an intern in Rural Development, I was given the opportunity to participate in the strategic planning process. I did this by applying the Harvard Policy Model in assessing the strengths and weaknesses, opportunities and threats facing rural farm communities. Through SWOT analysis I examined the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, problems, and limitations, of each farm community. I then proceeded to identify innovative initiatives that may ensure the long term stability and continued existence of these dying one industry farm towns. In the course of this analysis, I discovered that many of the communities have common similarities and differences as well as needs which in part can be addressed through regional initiatives and solutions. My second intern experience occurred while I was a intern with the City of Winnipeg Community Programs Branch. While an intern with the Community Programs Branch I had the opportunity to observe the administration and delivery of the federal Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program. I was able to pin point several weakenesses in the delivery process, and was made aware of the financial barriers and constraints that affect the delivery of the program. Overall I developed a thorough understanding of how this federal housing program operate In the case of this latter experience I chose to develop my thesis focus by examining federal and program changes to RRAP in relation to changes in the Community Programs Branch administration and delivery of RRAP. My main activities in the Community Programs Branch involved researching the City of Winnipeg's housing role and specifically examining the City of Winnipeg's role in administering and delivering the federal Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program. I have strong research and writing skills, very good presentation skills, and I am very familiar with apple computers and software. In accordance with this letter please find an attached resume which hilights my skills and abilities. I am willing to relocate for the summer position, I am a very eager to learn, and willing to travel whereever and when ever necessary. I can be reached via email
